Daniela Blickhan

Leading Trainer of Positive Psychology in the German-speaking countries

Dr Daniela Blickhan, who is lead trainer on this programme,  has a powerful blend of academic rigour and practical application.  Her pioneering courses in Positive Psychology are regularly attended by leading German and international companies. She will now offer her highly successful course in Applied Positive Psychology in the UK.

Daniela's Research

Daniela's MSc dissertation researched and proved the efficacy of her Positive Psychology programme for individuals.  The results were ground breaking and presented at the 2015 World Conference of Positive Psychology in the US.  The largest state health insurer in Germany has now recognised this course and pays delegates fees on the basis of its proven ability to reduce stress and burnout.  Daniela presented this at the 2016 European Conference of Positive Psychology in France.

Daniela has continued her pioneering work  by  researching and proving the efficacy of her professional level Positive Psychology program as part of her PhD.  She is in a unique position of having validated the impact of this training program through the rigorous analysis of its outcome in her PhD, which will be submitted in September 2016. The study compared flourishing, well-being, depression and risk for burnout of 140 delegates from 4 training groups to 4 control groups who participated in a classic coaching training. The results show that the Positive Psychology course helps to sustainably increase the levels of flourishing and reduce depression and burnout. These outcomes are mirrored by delegate's feedback at the end of the course, such as

I took from the course a deep understanding of topics in Positive Psychology, with which I was able to engage in reflection; a great deal of enthusiasm that motivates me to involve Positive Psychology in my professional future and share my knowledge with others – in the sense of a meaningful contribution!

The course offers an extreme lot of soundly scientifically-based knowledge that was imparted in a very accessible and practice-oriented way. All of this in the style of “walk what you talk” and with lots of positive rapport with participants as well as trainer and co-trainer. THANK YOU.

We are very pleased to announce the launch  this program in the UK in 2017.

Daniela's Background

Daniela has two degrees in Psychology, the first earned in the 1990s in Germany, and the second in 2014 (MSc Applied Positive Psychology, UEL London). Currently she is finishing her PhD at one of the most prestigious universities for psychological research in Germany (FU Berlin). Together with her husband  (who is also a licensed psychologist) in the early 1990s Daniela set up the Inntal Institute, a training organization that has grown to become one of the most respected in Germany with branches in 15 locations across the country. With more than 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur and business trainer and coach, Daniela is uniquely positioned to understand exactly what people and businesses need to flourish.

In addition to her corporate work in Germany (for example with BMW, Daimler, Telefonica, Airbus), Daniela is often invited by the media to talk about well-being and related subjects.

“Outside factors such as more money and more status can certainly have an impact on productivity and well-being, but the most important factor is not external. It’s about feeling personally in charge of the choices we make and personally motivated to do the things we do.”

Among Daniela's many skills is an unparalleled ability to turn complex scientific research into practical and inspiring training. Her current focus of interest is increasing resilience and preventing burn-out, an increasingly hot topic in business.

Despite a busy work schedule she nevertheless makes time to organize conferences and seminars that bring leading figures in her field to Germany and Austria. She regularly presents her work at international conferences of Positive Psychology and has published the first extensive overview of research and application of Positive Psychology in German.

Daniela also enjoys travelling regularly to Japan to deliver Positive Psychology trainings there and indulge her passion for Japanese food and culture.
